Across International Vacuum Melt Spinning System with 15KW Power Supply
The vacuum melt spinning system is designed for producing amorphous metallic ribbons at processing temperatures up to 2000 °C. In operation, metal ingots are melted by induction heating within a crucible. By over-pressurizing the crucible, the molten alloy is forced out as a thin jet and impinges on a rapidly rotating cold copper drum, where it undergoes rapid quenching and solidifies into a ribbon typically less than 10 mm wide.
The apparatus consists of a stainless-steel, airtight chamber fitted with a front observation window. A turbo pump backed by a dual-stage oil pump can be included to achieve high vacuum levels down to 10⁻⁶ torr. Separate inlet and outlet valves allow the chamber to be purged with inert gas, protecting the melt from oxygen or moisture during processing. The system also provides independent control of the drum’s rotational speed, induction heating power, melt temperature, and the pressure applied to the crucible, enabling precise adjustment of processing parameters.

Across International’s Vacuum Melt Spinning System (Model VSC-1) is a high-performance, precision-engineered solution designed for advanced material research and rapid solidification of metallic alloys. Built around a robust high-frequency induction heating system, the unit enables quick and controlled melting of small metallic samples—such as 10g of pure iron—in a high-vacuum or controlled atmosphere environment. With a maximum heating temperature of 1900°C and an impressive heating rate of 100°C/min, this system is ideal for fabricating ribbon-shaped alloys and metallic glasses through melt spinning techniques.
Central to its design is the quartz crucible heating zone (Dia15×50mm), paired with a roller-type rotating target table capable of achieving surface linear speeds up to 50 m/s, controlled via stepless variable frequency modulation. The high-vacuum environment is maintained through an advanced vacuum system, which includes options for either a molecular pump (ultimate pressure: 6×10⁻⁷ Pa) or a diffusion pump (pumping speed: 1000 L/s). An intelligent PID controller, supported by real-time infrared temperature sensing and safety features like over-temperature, over-current, and low water pressure protection, ensures precise and safe operations.
The VSC-1 integrates a 15KW high-frequency induction power supply operating at 30–80KHZ, built for efficiency with an 80% duty cycle. The system’s modular vacuum injection and observation chamber (Dia500×400 mm with a 90mm viewing window) make it versatile for various research and development applications. Optional components such as a water chiller (CW-6100AH) and pressure/vacuum gauges provide added functionality for demanding research environments.
