SDA-40B denatured ethanol is a popular choice for cosmetic applications because studies have shown low toxicity in topical applications. It is very popular in perfumes and colognes, earning the nickname of perfumer’s alcohol. It is also often used as the alcohol component to hand sanitizers. The term “200 proof” refers to the alcohol’s strength, which is equivalent to 100% alcohol by volume (ABV). This means that there is no water, or other substances present in the alcohol, making it very pure and highly concentrated.
