VTF1700 series vertical tube furnaces feature a chamber with Mitsubishi (Japan) high quality alumina fiber insulation and SiC heating elements. A dual-wall steel internal housing helps minimize heat loss to exterior surface.

Furnace operation is controlled by Eurotherm (UK) multi-segment digital controller with built-in RS485 digital communications port and USB adaptor, allowing the user to connect to a PC for remote control and monitoring of the furnace. You can also save or export test results.

Features

  • Swing-open furnace chamber for fast and easy tube access.
  • The standard package includes a set of stainless steel vacuum sealing flanges with valves and pressure meter.
  • Microprocessor based self-tuning PID control provides optimum thermal process with minimal overshoot.
  • Multiple atmosphere processes in a single cycle are possible (ex: binder burn out in air and parts sintering under rough vacuum or inert gas environment.)
  • Built-in ammeter and dual voltmeters for easy monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Built-in computer interface.
  • Long life type S thermocouple.

Safety

  • Overheat protection shuts down the furnace if temperature is outside of acceptable range (refer to controller’s manual) or when the thermocouple is broken or malfunctions.
  • Power failure protection resumes furnace operation right after the point of failure when power is reestablished.
  • Limit switch turns off furnace once top is open.

Warning! NEVER fill furnace with explosive gases, including Hydrogen, Carbon Monoxide and Methane.

Vacuum Sealing Flange and Valve

1.A stainless steel sealing flange and a stainless steel needle valve are installed at the top of the furnace body.

2. A plug valve is installed at the bottom of the furnace body, a mechanical pressure gauge, and a KF25 vacuum interface for connecting the vacuum pump.

3. Vacuum degree: Using a mechanical pump, the vacuum degree can reach below 1Pa. For higher vacuum degrees, a domestic or imported high vacuum unit can be selected, with a vacuum degree up to 10-3Pa.

4. KF25 stainless steel bellows, KF25 quick release clamp.

5. Optional anti-corrosion digital vacuum gauge, measurement range from 3.8x10-5 to 1125Torr. No coefficient conversion required for different gas measurements.

6. A hanging device that can withstand up to 1000g is installed on the top flange as shown below. The sample is hung on the hook through the hanging wire. When the quenching rod is pressed, the sample and the hanging wire fall into the quenching box together. Before releasing the sample, 5PSI argon must be flushed in and the manual plug valve at the bottom of the furnace tube must be opened.

Quenching Container

1. A stainless steel box for holding quenching liquid is fixed at the bottom of the furnace tube.
2. A large manual plug valve is installed between the bottom of the furnace tube and the liquid box.

Precautions

1. The air pressure inside the furnace tube should not exceed 0.02MPa.

2.Due to the high internal pressure of the gas cylinder, a pressure reducing valve must be installed on the gas cylinder when introducing gas into the furnace tube. To ensure safety, it is recommended to use a pressure below 0.02MPa.

3. When using a corundum tube, if the furnace temperature is above 1500℃, the inside of the furnace tube should not be in a vacuum state, and the air pressure inside the furnace tube should be equivalent to atmospheric pressure.

4. The gas flow rate into the furnace tube should be less than 200SCCM to avoid the impact of cold gas flow on the hot furnace tube.

5. For experiments heating samples, it is not recommended to close the exhaust valve and intake valve at the flange end of the furnace tube. If the gas valve needs to be closed to heat the sample, the pressure gauge reading should be constantly monitored. If the pressure gauge reading exceeds 0.02MPa, the exhaust valve must be immediately opened to prevent accidents (such as furnace tube rupture, flange flying off, etc.).

6. Do not use graphite crucibles in alumina tubes.

7. MoSi2 heating elements should not be used for long periods at low temperatures (400℃-700℃), as this may damage the heating elements.
